Bear Hands Pottery

Bear Hands Pottery Studio may be rented by the hour or by the quarter. Below are guidelines to make your pottery experience safe and enjoyable.

 

 

Studio Hours

Bear Hands Pottery Studio is open to members only for extra hours on some days.

Mondays: 9:30-8:00

Tuesday-Friday: 9:30-6:00

Saturday: 10:00-5:00

Sunday: 1:30-4:30

Studio Fees

Rental Fees:
$10/hour
$150/3 months

After initial 3 months continue for:
$135 for 3 months
$250 for 6 months
$485 for 1 year

Firing Fees:
All bisque firings on pieces glazed in our studio are free.
Glaze fire--5 cents per cubic inch (members get 10% off)

Bear Hands Pottery Studio Membership Studio memberships are designed for potters who need access to equipment and a place to work. Our members are hobbyists, artists, students, and anyone who wants to enjoy working with clay.

One of the best things about Art &Materials Bear Hands Pottery Studio is community; working with others in a mutually respectful, friendly environment.

 

Benefits:

  • Extruder and dies, slab roller, Giffin-Grip, 1 Thomas Stuart kick wheel, 6 electric wheels, banding wheels, clay gun, wedging table and slip-master sanding area.
  • Canvas covered hand-building table, rollers and texture tools, brushes, buckets, towels
  • Dipping glazes, slip, wax and other materials.
  • A personal shelf to store your tools and work and use of green houses
  • 10% Discount on Clay
  • 1 Free set of tools upon joining studio (first time members only)
  • 1 Free pkg. of clay upon joining studio (first time members only)
  • Participation in Student Pottery Shows with commission free sales
  • Bring a guest free (2 times per month)
  • Working Potters Nights—open until 8 p.m. one night a week (Monday night )
  • Free Instruction class (Second Saturday from 10 - 12)
  • Unlimited hours (while store is open and classes not in session)

 

Requirements:

  • All new members need to read and sign the studio membership agreement.
  • Respect other people’s work, space and time (this means not touching others’ work, or interrupting them while working).
  • You must be an 21 or older to hold a membership.
  • You must have taken at least one pottery class outside of high school (in other words be able to work independently and safely on our equipment).
  • Clean up after yourself and leave the area nice for the next person.
  • Clay must be purchased at Art &Materials if it is to be fired in our kilns.
  • Glazes that are not from our studio or store must be lead free and rated at least cone 6.
  • Members may not come in during scheduled classes unless they have made arrangements with instructor.
  • Members buy their own materials, clay and tools.
  • All materials used in our kilns must be approved
  • No leaded materials allowed in studio
  • Special firings or raku firings are an extra fee
